Droopy's Reading List

This is my reading list: books I have read recently, books in my queue, and books I am currently reading. I love to read and I am usually reading 5-15 books at the same time. I focus on history, politics and current events, and especially focus on English history and on monarchies.  I usually have many books in my reading queue, but I have only listed a few books here.

Many book reading ideas come from watching Booknotes on C-SPAN.  It is a great show on Sunday nights where Brian Lamb interviews authors of newly published books.

If you have any questions about these books, please let me know.

This was a very interesting read. It was interesting to hear Paul O'Neill's views and thinking.  It is hard for me to determine how true the description of the decision making process in the Bush administration is. It describes the decision making process as being virtually soley based on political considerations.

I liked reading this book, and know some of the players mentioned.  I have meet Dick Clarke. The book is very critical of various administrations on dealing with terrorism.  The book unrealistically portrays Dick Clarke as one who knew what the problems were and how to solve them.  I think hindsight has given him a good perspective to look back on...

I read much more non-fiction than fiction, but I could not put this book down.  It is a very good story and is well written.  I bought it after hearing Rush Limbaugh interview the author on his show.

My favourite non-fiction reading is books on monarchies and monarchical forms of government. Reading this book, I felt very sad for Liliuokalani.  She wanted what she thought was best for her Hawaiian subjects, but in the end was out maneuvered by American businessmen. I learned a great deal about the customs and monarchy of Hawaii reading this book.

Despite her being unprepared for royal life and facing depression, the Duchess of Kent has done many positive things.

blah blah blah

I like Brad Meltzer as an author.  In this book, he again does a good job of writing an engaging story.

I cannot remember how I learnt of this book.  I like reading books of human errors and how the errors might have been mitigated.
